Shamanism in the Millennium is a course of study that prepares a person to become a Shamanic Practitioner. Karen’s teachers were Julia Darnell and Sandra Ingerman. The course includes classes, workshops, outdoor excursions, camping and classes in the parks. There are six core classes to complete to become a Shamanic Practitioner.
Shamanism is a worldview in which the participant experiences ALL living tings as having an energy/life force and is treated with respect, honor and gratitude. The Winged Ones, Four Leggeds, Creepy Crawlies, Ancient Ones and Stone People are just a few of the living energies on the Earth Plane. Elements include water, earth, fire and air and also considered living beings.
This worldview remembers that everything is one/connected energetically and that there is no hierarchy of beings…. everything/everyone has something to share and teach and all have something to learn.
Shamanic techniques are powerful tools in healing the psyche/soul and have been used for over 40,000 years as documented through artifacts, petroglyphs and oral history.
Journeying or using altered consciousness is a way to travel through Non-ordinary Reality from Ordinary Reality to access inner guidance/wisdom that is connected to All That Is. It is a medium to create a space for the person to re-remember his/her inherent ability to connect with Spirit for healing. Journeying uses intention/focus to heal/connect.
Journeying uses rhythmic sound/movement—drumming, rattling, toning, dancing, chanting to access that Inner wisdom.
Initial journeying helps a person find his/her Power Animal, Helping Spirit or Angelic Presence; reminding that no one is alone in the Universe and can access guidance/help. The shamanic belief is that Dis-Ease is the modern person’s disconnection with his/her own Power and that the re connection with the representative of that power is important for the healing process.
